Development of an innovative ship type utilizing wing sails, multi-hull structures, and lightweight materials, paving the way for zero-emission maritime transport.

Since 2010, I have been responsible for all illustrations and have contributed to the design's development. In 2018, we received support from the Danish Maritime Foundation and successfully completed a "Proof of Concept" with promising results.

This ship type can transport large cargo loads without fossil fuels, maintaining an average speed of 17 knots across the Atlantic. Our next phase includes a Joint Industry Project (JIP) in the coming years to achieve TRL6 (Technology Readiness Level 6), allowing the EU to take part ownership temporarily to facilitate broader adoption.

Potentially, these ships could reduce global CO2 emissions by 2-3% by 2050.

Styling images of the latest concept model 2022

3D renderings of the Blue Technology 2022 model, showcasing a futuristic catamaran with multiple wing sails on each side, inspired by Tesla Cybertruck's design aesthetics.

This series of images showcases the current vessel model in the Blue Technology project. The 2022 design marks a departure from previous models by adopting a sharper, more angular aesthetic, inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck. The vessel returns to a catamaran structure, now featuring eight wing sails on each side. This configuration not only expands the sail area but also maintains a manageable sail height.

In these visuals, I’ve used 3D modeling in Keyshot and added dynamic elements, like dolphins, through AI-generated effects in Photoshop to enhance the scene with lively marine life. Additionally, we explored the interior layout with container placements to maximize cargo capacity.

These images demonstrate the design evolution and the thought process behind a functional yet innovative approach to sustainable maritime transport.

Below, you’ll find larger, detailed images that highlight the unique aesthetic and structural elements of the 2022 model. The final illustrations include both the 2020 and 2022 models side by side with a Boeing 747 positioned nearby for scale. This familiar reference helps convey the substantial size of the vessels, which can’t simply be shown by placing an adult figure next to them due to their impressive scale.

Styling images of the 2020 concept model with unique trimaran design

The 2020 version of our concept vessel adopted a trimaran structure, focusing on rounded and aerodynamic shapes. This design featured an unconventional curved deck that was intentionally non-walkable, a choice made to prevent potential piracy by securing the crew entirely inside, with no external access points.

For this visual series, I used personal vacation photos from New York, Chicago, and Iceland as backgrounds, rendering the vessel images in Keyshot for a realistic setting.

Below the main image, you’ll find larger, detailed images showcasing the design’s unique aesthetic and structural elements, emphasizing our dedication to both style and security.
