Shipping design | Blue Technology | Lead DesignerDesign and 3D Modelling • Wingsail Shipping Concept • bluetechnology.dk • Active since December 2010 Development of an innovative ship type utilizing wing sails, multi-hull structures, and lightweight materials, paving the way for zero-emission maritime transport. Since 2010, I have been responsible for all illustrations and have contributed to the design's development. In 2018, we received support from the Danish Maritime Foundation and successfully completed a "Proof of Concept" with promising results. This ship type can transport large cargo loads without fossil fuels, maintaining an average speed of 17 knots across the Atlantic. Our next phase includes a Joint Industry Project (JIP) in the coming years to achieve TRL6 (Technology Readiness Level 6), allowing the EU to take part ownership temporarily to facilitate broader adoption. Potentially, these ships could reduce global CO2 emissions by 2-3% by 2050.

Automotive design | Palle Steen Christensen - 3D design concept to the Funen OperaCar styling • Theatre Performance Car • pallesteen.dk • September 2017. In September 2017, I was hired by scenographer Palle Steen Christensen to develop and design a unique car concept for a theatre performance. The concept was based on a Mercedes AMG roadster and was intended to be the centrepiece of the stage design. During the performance, the car was meant to split apart dramatically, culminating in a staged accident at the end of the play. Unfortunately, the project was halted after its first phase due to financial constraints. Instead, the theatre used an older vehicle and lighting effects to achieve a similar visual impact. Graphic visual designMy journey towards becoming an industrial designer began in the early 1990s when I first discovered the joy of creating graphic visual expressions on a computer. At that time, there was a lot of buzz about the emerging role of the multimedia designer—a fascinating concept, though its exact definition and scope were still unclear. At one point, a career advisor suggested I become a sign painter. However, the term didn’t resonate with my design aspirations. If they had instead mentioned titles like "sign designer," "sign stylist," or "sign graphic artist," it would have aligned much more closely with my interest in design. I’m not the typical automotive designer who could draw in freehand perspective before I could walk, and no, my first words weren’t "design" or "car." My path to becoming an industrial designer took me through alternative educational routes such as folk high schools and production schools—some more relevant and useful than others. Before I even began my formal studies, I had already accumulated substantial experience in graphic design, skills that I continue to actively apply in my work today. |

Product design | Chocolate design conceptsIn this project, I explored the development of chocolate concepts, combining graphic design and product design to create unique chocolate shapes. Using Alias StudioTools, I developed a series of simple shapes that were later visualized in 3D. To visualize the final 3D chocolate designs, I used KeyShot to create rendered chocolate shapes with realistic materials and detailed texture and lighting. This allowed experimentation with various digital chocolate designs and testing how the form and surface would appear in real life. The project demonstrates the potential of creating modern chocolate concepts through digital design and advanced visualization techniques. The result is a series of product designs with an elegant and innovative approach to the chocolate industry, combining visual aesthetics with functional properties. This work illustrates how chocolate design can be developed and shaped using Danish concept design and digital technology. |

Fashion apparel design | Eyewear Design ConceptsAs someone who has worn glasses since I was five, I have a deep connection to eyewear. However, this has also made the design process quite challenging, as I have to take off my glasses to study them. Balancing my personal experience with the technical aspects of eyewear design has been an exciting challenge. In my latest project, I’ve developed two eyewear concepts: a pair of sports glasses and a pair of everyday glasses. Both designs are inspired by principles from transportation design, where form, function, and aerodynamics play a key role. I aimed to create glasses that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional in different daily and active scenarios. The sports glasses are designed with a focus on comfort and stability during movement, using carefully selected materials and forms to ensure a lightweight and ergonomic fit. The everyday glasses are crafted as a sleek and timeless solution, designed to be worn throughout the day without compromising on comfort. The emphasis here is on a minimalist expression that still exudes personality and quality. Both eyewear concepts reflect my interest in combining aesthetics with technology while drawing inspiration from streamlined forms and functional solutions found in transportation design, alongside my experience as a glasses wearer. |

Product design | Letter box conceptThis letterbox concept is inspired by Apple's streamlined and minimalist design aesthetics, particularly their use of simple and elegant stands, as seen in their monitors. I aimed to create a product where the letterbox and its stand are integrated into a seamless unit, eliminating the need for traditional, cumbersome installations like deep holes and long poles. Instead, my solution is both stylish and functional, making it easy to place the letterbox while ensuring it stands out visually. In short, this design challenges the conventional perception of what a letterbox looks like and how it functions. |

Interior product design | Lighting design conceptsThis project involved experimenting with lamp designs using Alias StudioTools, a 3D modelling software I am using. The focus was on form development and the realistic portrayal of light, aiming to capture how the light interacts with various shapes and materials. This was also an exercise in 3D modelling, where I practised rendering the lamps with natural-looking light effects. The forms range from futuristic to minimalist, each exploring different approaches to lighting in both practical and aesthetic terms. |

Interior product design | Vases and knick-knacksIn this project, I explored the design of vases, playing with shapes and materials in 3D. Using Alias StudioTools for modelling and KeyShot for material rendering, the project was an experiment in form and surface treatment. The goal was to explore different textures and finishes, resulting in vases that are both functional and visually striking. This project was part of a fast-paced idea development phase where the emphasis was on quick, creative experimentation. |

Fashion apparel design | Stilettos meet the sports worldThis project was born from a desire to explore and rethink the shape of a high-heeled shoe. The vision was to merge elegance with sports aesthetics, resulting in the development of a 3D model of a stiletto that incorporates sports logos. My aim was to visualize how a sports brand could enter the high-heel market and thereby redefine shoe design. I used size 35 as a starting point for the basic form and then experimented with different heel shapes and approaches.
Unexpected attention on fake sales websitesIn March 2021, I discovered that images of this concept were being misused on fake sales websites where the shoes were falsely offered for sale. Even though the shoes do not exist in reality, there were fabricated positive reviews from "buyers." I tried to warn potential buyers through reviews but without success. To protect my work, I added text to the images, clearly stating that it is a 3D illustration only. |

Colorful visualization of space layout in a holiday cottageThis project started with an idea from my neighbor, who wanted a new wooden facade for a holiday cottage. As the project progressed, however, the focus shifted to reconfiguring the interior layout to improve the flow of spaces. The architect initially on the project did not have the time or the ability to work with 3D modeling, so I was brought in to create a clearer visualization. In this project, I designed the interior layout and structure of the rooms, as illustrated in the 3D models where each room is color-coded for easy understanding. This approach makes it straightforward to visualize the position and function of each room. Additionally, I explored solutions for a staircase that would provide access to a small loft area, which could be used as additional living or storage space. Through this project, I was able to merge practical design with visual clarity, resulting in a comprehensible and functional interior layout overview. |

Design and visualization of an allotment house projectIn Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, I have a neighbor who often comes up with creative ideas and sometimes needs my help to bring them to life in 3D. This particular project was exciting, as he had purchased a vacant allotment and wanted to build a 60m² garden house on it. I created a 3D model of the house, offering several facade options for the wood cladding, and integrated the model into photos my neighbor had taken of the site. The goal was to provide him with a realistic sense of how the house would look in its final placement. |

3D illustrations | Langebjerghallen | HumlebækDue to the expansion of Langebjerghallen in Humlebæk, which appeared quite dominant in the architectural drawings, particularly in relation to the view from my backyard, I decided to create a 3D model of the winning project. This was to better understand how the new building would be positioned in relation to our property. Using the limited information from the architectural plans, I built the 3D model. The only major difference between my illustrations and the final building was that I missed including a single tower in my version. In reality, the buildings take up more space than I initially interpreted from the drawings. Through my 3D renderings, we proposed a solution where the building could be rotated 180 degrees, moving it further away from us while maintaining its architectural theme. However, this suggestion was not implemented. The bottom three pictures show suggestions from us neighbours. Nonetheless, as neighbours, we managed to have some influence, creating an embankment near the parking lot, providing some visual shielding from the building. |

3D interior design and architecture | From Furniture Layout to Sports Hall PlanningBefore moving into my house, I created a 3D model of the entire building to gain a visual understanding of furniture placement and potential new arrangements. This model allowed me to experiment with the layout of existing furniture and visualize how new furniture might fit into the space. I also created renderings of my office in Keyshot to see how the room would look with different colors and to evaluate if my old sofa bed could be repainted in a new color. Additionally, I used the 3D model as a blueprint, which was helpful in various planning phases. Furthermore, I modeled the entire townhouse complex to assess how the area would be affected by a new sports hall that was planned shortly after I moved in. |

3D modelling of my former flatI previously 3D-modelled my former apartment at Jagtvej 213, located in Østerbro, Copenhagen. The model allowed me to experiment with different colors for sliding doors and consider wallpaper for one of the walls, adding a personal and modern touch. This 3D model later became an essential tool when the building required facade renovation. I recreated the entire building in 3D to assist with facade proposals that needed approval from the City of Copenhagen. Teytaud presented two pattern options for the facade, and I visualized both proposals in 3D to help the city council better understand the project. The 3D illustrations played a key role in securing approval, and the renovation began in the fall of 2013. |

Interior product design | Paintings - art workMy artwork is deeply rooted in sustainability. Most of my paintings are created on recycled materials, such as back panels from old cabinets and shelves, predominantly sourced from IKEA furniture. By using these discarded items, I give new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. This approach is not only eco-friendly, but it also adds a unique authenticity and story to my paintings. The colours I use are mostly leftover paints I've accumulated over time, adding depth and character to each piece. Every hue has its own narrative, creating a distinctive richness. My creative process is intuitive, allowing each painting to evolve organically, expressing a momentary feeling or atmosphere. These paintings are currently displayed in my home, contributing to a personal and unique ambience. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to see the possibilities in reusing and to create with what surrounds them.

Brand identity | Website designingSince 1997, I have been designing and optimizing websites with a focus on simplicity and usability. My early websites featured colorful backgrounds and free domain setups until I purchased my first domain in late 1999. In the early 2000s, I transitioned to a minimalist design with white backgrounds, making the sites visually clean and easy to navigate. I emphasize ensuring that my websites are fully compatible with all browsers and devices, including mobile platforms. Additionally, my HTML coding is optimized for fast loading times and search engine optimization (SEO). |
||
Back to top | ||
Brand identity | LogosMy logo design journey began in 1993, when I first explored graphical elements using Corel Draw, my initial drawing software. The first logo I created was inspired by the front grills of cars, a design I often used in my early car sketches. This style is somewhat similar to the grill design seen today in Dacia cars, with the letters "DC" forming part of the grill. By 1998, I shifted focus to more simplified logos, catering to stationery, business cards, and early websites, as I enrolled in graphic design schools to refine my skills. During my time at Coventry University in 2002, I designed my own font for a school project, which became part of my logo. Blue remained my go-to color during this period. In 2004, one of my professors challenged me to rethink my logo, calling it a bit dull. This pushed me to create my current bold, orange design, which I still use today. I have occasionally used a black background for variety. My logo is not just an aesthetic marker of my business but a symbol of the visual communication and brand identity services I offer to clients. I design logos for both private individuals and companies, providing consultation on how a strong visual brand can enhance business identity and recognition. |

Brand identity | Business cardsSince 1994, I have been experimenting with the design and aesthetics of my business cards, adapting the layouts based on the technology available, such as computers and printers. I have worked with transparent materials, previously used for overhead presentations, and I have laminated several cards. This has preserved their vibrant colors and kept them looking almost new to this day. However, the oldest cards have started sticking to plastic sleeves. Over the years, I have experimented with colors, starting with safe blue tones before eventually deciding that orange should be the central color of my logo. In the beginning, I printed and cut the cards myself, but over time I moved to mass production, having them printed professionally. My mindset has always been to create business cards that are not just practical but also communicate a company’s visual identity. With years of experience, I now offer advice to businesses looking to enhance their brand through aesthetic and functional design. This text incorporates the words and ideas you mentioned (e.g., aesthetics, mindset, advising), while also providing a cohesive narrative that reflects your journey and expertise in business card design. Feel free to modify this to better suit your style or any additional thoughts!

Brand identity | Portfolio foldersSince 1999, I have created portfolio folders that I sent by postal mail. Today, for interviews, I use an A3 folder that can be updated with new papers as needed. The folder contains plastic sleeves, making it easy to replace the content. In the past, I also designed a portfolio newspaper with a circulation of around 2,000 copies, which was mailed out. The newspaper was a cost-effective solution for the mass production and distribution of my work. |

The course helped deepen my understanding of anatomy, proportions, and the nuances of the human figure. |
