Private jet seaplane – The ultimate unique toy for adventurous yacht owners

Single-person Jet Seaplane – A Revolutionary Design Concept

This single-person jet seaplane falls into the same category as jet skis – a powerful, noisy, and thrilling machine that stirs both fascination and irritation. While some may find it disruptive, the user experiences the freedom and excitement that comes with it, hoping to impress those around them.

The project started as a simple sketch during an intensive design course and was later developed in 3D. Through several iterations, the concept evolved significantly, blending cutting-edge aviation design with yacht-inspired aesthetics. Each phase of the design introduced new features, such as improved aerodynamics, detailed renderings in Keyshot, and functional elements like a rudder for water navigation.

In April 2014, I revisited the design with the goal of creating a more polished and refined final version. This process allowed me to experiment further, enhancing both the technical and aesthetic aspects of the concept.

Automotive Design Workshops | David Hilton in Cologne.

In August 2010, I attended a five-day intensive design course with renowned car designer David Hilton in Cologne, Germany. The course focused on rapid sketching techniques during the first two days and transitioned into either clay modeling or 3D digital modeling for the last three days.

It was during this course that the idea for the jet seaplane was born. The combination of tight deadlines and creative freedom ignited my passion for experimental design, inspiring the creation of this innovative concept.

Leisure Jet Seaplane from the 2nd Concept | 2010

While working on the second model, which I began 3D modeling shortly after the course with David Hilton, I had more time to focus on the design process. This extra time allowed me to dive deeper into shaping the seaplane and to explore finer details with greater precision.

I also took the opportunity to refine my skills in the 3D Alias software, which enabled me to push the boundaries of my creativity. Using Keyshot, I created bolder and more dynamic renderings, capturing the design's full potential. This phase was incredibly rewarding, filled with joy, inspiration, and a renewed passion for design.

When developing the third model later on, I retained many of the details from this second version while introducing new features, such as a rudder at the bottom of the plane, allowing it to navigate smoothly on water. This addition elevated both the functionality and innovation of the design.

Leisure Jet Seaplane from the First Concept | 2010

The initial idea for this jet seaplane was developed and 3D-modeled during an intense and inspiring five-day course with David Hilton.

Although we worked on computers with rendering software limitations that prevented me from opening the images on my own computer, it didn’t matter much.

The course was incredibly rewarding, filled with joy, motivation, and inspiration, providing a solid foundation for further development.

Shortly after, I created a new version of the model that became even more refined. However, the first model remained the core idea behind the design – a fusion of cutting-edge aviation design and yacht-inspired aesthetics, designed to deliver both elegance and versatility on the water.
