Shipping design | Blue Technology | Lead DesignerDesign and 3D Modelling • Wingsail Shipping Concept • bluetechnology.dk • Active since December 2010 Development of an innovative ship type utilizing wing sails, multi-hull structures, and lightweight materials, paving the way for zero-emission maritime transport. Since 2010, I have been responsible for all illustrations and have contributed to the design's development. In 2018, we received support from the Danish Maritime Foundation and successfully completed a "Proof of Concept" with promising results. This ship type can transport large cargo loads without fossil fuels, maintaining an average speed of 17 knots across the Atlantic. Our next phase includes a Joint Industry Project (JIP) in the coming years to achieve TRL6 (Technology Readiness Level 6), allowing the EU to take part ownership temporarily to facilitate broader adoption. Potentially, these ships could reduce global CO2 emissions by 2-3% by 2050.

Mega Yacht design | Icon Yachts | Concept designerTest project for the Dutch mega yacht company Icon Yachts • May 2011 - 2023. As part of this project, I worked on a freelance basis, tasked with developing ideas for the design of mega yachts based on a 50-meter private yacht. This was a test project with no fixed deadline, and I was asked to propose multiple innovative and sleek design concepts focusing on cutting-edge aesthetics, functionality, and the latest yacht-building technologies. The project allowed me to explore creative boundaries and present multiple design ideas for the future of luxury yachts. |

Yacht design | Nordship Yachts ApS | 3D modeling and advisory designerSeveral projects • 3D modelling and concept report • Nordship Yachts • April 2007 - May 2009 Between 2007 and 2009, I had the pleasure of working with Nordship Yachts on several major projects involving 3D modelling, concept development, and design solutions. This collaboration was instrumental in developing my skills in 3D visualisation and design, while also contributing to Nordship’s innovation and launch of new models. Through projects like the Nordship 360 DS and 380 DS and a concept report on innovative interior layouts, I helped create visual solutions that facilitated boat sales before they were even built. The results of our collaboration were showcased at international boat shows, and the yachts gained significant recognition, including nominations for awards such as European Yacht of the Year. Brand identity | Rockwool GC32 design competitionIn January 2021, Rockwool, the sponsor of Danish sailing, held a design competition to select the best sponsor paint scheme for the Danish GC32 racing team. The competition ran between Christmas and New Year 2020, and I developed 14 main design concepts that could be combined in Photoshop, leading to 100 unique design proposals. My design approach aimed to reflect Danish identity by drawing inspiration from Danish fan culture and national pride. However, Rockwool ultimately prioritized its brand identity, selecting a winning design from Asia that highlighted Rockwool as the sponsor over the Danish theme. Yacht design | Redefining Danish Match Racing | A new chapter in Nordic boat designThis concept, rooted in Nordic aesthetics and tradition, was originally 3D developed during my time at Coventry University. Over the years, I have revisited and refined the design multiple times, staying true to the original vision while making improvements. As an example of Scandinavian design excellence, the concept thinks differently than most. The boat is designed with match racing in mind and could potentially serve as a modern replacement for the boats currently used by the Danish Sailing Association. Combining sleek aesthetics with functionality, the concept is built to deliver speed, precision, and innovation in competitive sailing. The common thread throughout the design is achieving extraordinary results through simplicity and functionality - a true trendsetter in modern yacht design. The project stems from the joy of design and the motivation to create awareness about Danish yacht design tradition in a modern context. |

Maritime and Aviation | Single-person Jet Seaplane – A Revolutionary Design ConceptThis single-person jet seaplane belongs to the same category as jet skis – a powerful, noisy, and adrenaline-filled machine that both fascinates and irritates. While some may find it disruptive, the user embraces the sense of freedom, speed, and the chance to impress those around them. The concept for the jet seaplane was born during a five-day intensive design course with renowned car designer David Hilton in Cologne, Germany, in August 2010. The course began with rapid sketching and idea development in the first two days, followed by clay modeling or 3D digital modeling during the last three days. Working under tight deadlines with creative freedom sparked the inspiration for this innovative design. Starting as a simple sketch, the project evolved through several design phases into an advanced concept that combines aviation aesthetics with yacht-inspired elegance. Each iteration introduced new features, such as improved aerodynamics, detailed renderings in Keyshot, and functional elements like a rudder for water navigation. In April 2014, the project was further refined to create a more polished and detailed final version. This process allowed for greater experimentation and enhancement of both the technical and aesthetic aspects, ensuring the jet seaplane achieved a balance between functionality and sophistication. Expertise & BackgroundThe foundation of my yacht design work rests on two crucial pillars: deep maritime understanding gained through generations of sailing experience, and expertise in cutting-edge 3D visualization technology. This dual perspective enables me to create designs that not only look stunning but also perform excellently at sea. Explore below how these complementary skills enhance my design process. |
||
Maritime roots in yacht designGrowing up in a Danish sailing family, I've experienced maritime life from every angle. From early years navigating our Luffe 37 (D010 Beagle) through Danish waters and the Swedish archipelago, to later adventures on larger vessels like an Oyster Yacht in the Mediterranean, this hands-on experience shapes my design philosophy. My family's deep involvement in competitive sailing has further enhanced my understanding of what makes a vessel not just beautiful, but truly exceptional at sea. As a child, I sailed Optimist dinghies on the lake Furesøen and was a member of the local yacht club Yachtklubben Furesøen. After the Optimist, I briefly considered switching to the Europe dinghy but was encouraged to sail the Yngling class instead. However, I chose to pursue another passion and began glider training. There are many similarities between gliding and sailing, and later I became involved in a wing sail project inspired by the aviation industry. While my family was focused on competitive sailing, my passion has more been centered around the design and aesthetics of boats rather than racing itself. I am the first in my family to earn a skipper’s certification. Although I no longer actively sail, I continue to follow developments in the sailing world and major regattas. I remain passionate about advancing the sport of sailing and look forward to contributing innovative design solutions to the marine |
